Daniel Zimmerman brings more than 15 years of experience to his role as a managing director for Goldman, Sachs & Co. in New York City. Since 2014, he has led as co-portfolio manager for the firm’s small/mid-cap growth fund (GSMYX), which has earned consistently high marks from industry group ratings firm Morningstar. Mr. Zimmerman was named to a managing director position with the firm in November 2015.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Zimmerman served as an analyst with the firm’s asset management division (GSAM) and its global investment research division (GIR), where he focused on the telecommunications and mortgage sectors. He earned widespread recognition for his research in the mortgage industry, particularly for his groundbreaking work on Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae during the financial crisis of 2007-2008. His research efforts in this capacity have been noted by major publications such as the Seattle Times, Bloomberg, and others.
Daniel Zimmerman graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting from the University of Richmond, where he received an Arthur Andersen Accounting Merit Scholarship. An active member of the field, he holds a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation from the CFA Institute and is a member of CFA Society New York.
